Couples sit together at Ulsoor Lake in Bangalore

Last Saturday I also walked through a new park at Ulsoor Lake in central Bangalore. The most popular activity there is for young couples to meet and sit together on benches. Walking down the path I saw one couple after another bench after bench looking at each other next to the lake.

I am told that this is a new activity. The idea of dating has begun to take hold in Bangalore in the past few years and parks provide an opportunity for couples to get together, without their parent's knowledge if necessary.

The more well-to-do of the younger set go to clubs near Brigade Road where social interaction is not limited to sitting together on a bench.
