My mother gave me a copy of the digital Encyclopedia Britannica 2005 Deluxe Edition for Christmas. I have really enjoyed this. Anytime I have a question about anything, I can look it up. They have great sections on the human and physical geography of each state of India that I am visiting. It also serves as bedtime reading when I wish to bone up on my history. I got the idea of taking an encyclopaedia on my laptop from Andy of HoboTraveler.com, who is carrying a copy of Encarta with him.
