India is romantic

Submitted by itinerant on Wed, 03/22/2006 - 3:12am.

Despite my intent to have no expectations in India, I had many. But I did not expect India to be so romantic. I have only been to three places (Mumbai, Goa, Rajasthan), but they all have been romantic. Granted, Goa and Rajasthan have a reputation for being romantic. But Mumbai showed how India is romantic in general. People are out on the streets confronting each other, dealing with each other. Women ride side-saddle on the back of scooters and motorcycles. Life cannot be avoided as soon as you set foot on the street. There is a directness and immediacy to each happening, and ultimately this is romantic.
