Leaving a place

Bangalore

Leaving a place

I am leaving Bangalore. Bangalore is an ordinary place, without the tourist attractions or even the exoticism of other places I've been. But leaving is like leaving other places.

As soon as I've decided I'm leaving a place, my perception of the place changes. It is now a place I'm leaving. The streets look different, the people look different. Even though I am still here, they are already becoming part of my past.

Some places I do not stay long enough to reach this point. I imagine a lot of travellers see most places they visit this way. They are not in the place long enough to feel like they're leaving. They're just passing through.

The change in the state of mind helps me move on. I can think about the next place with a clear mind. It helps that I feel like I have done and seen the things I have wanted to in the last place.

I'd like to come back to Bangalore and visit the people here I've met and also make new friends. That thought is important to me and helps me leave a place, to feel a connection with it.

Yes Ganesh I still need to write about the half-marathon we ran. You'll be the star of the story!
