I read this book while traveling through Rajasthan. The story begins in Pondicherry in India. The author is an excellent crafter of words and story. Sometimes with this type of novel the writing seems almost too perfect. Would someone really speak as the narrator speaks, so crisply and precisely? But nevertheless I got caught up in the story and read the entire thing.

Favorite quote: "a stint in India will beat the restlessness out of any living creature"
