Medical limbo

I now seem to be in that medical limbo in which the doctors don't know what I have but they have a seemingly endless series of tests to try to further corroborate or dismiss what it may be.

Although I am willing to go ahead with tests if it is dangerous to have untreated TB, the doctor just seemed to get it this morning that none of this stuff is free. I am paying all of this stuff out-of-pocket. He asked the question of whether I had medical insurance. I do have insurance, but because I usually don't get sick, I purchased insurance with the highest deductible at a lower cost. So I explained this morning that even though I have insurance, I am paying for these costs out-of-pocket. I think it finally sunk in for the one doctor.

The IV antibiotics seem to be working. My fever has decreased; so has my cough; and I am sleeping more and sweating less at night.
