I had to go to Citibank central office today to take care of an errand. I saw a long stretch of true skyscrapers -- banks and finance I conject, on Sathorn Road.

While I was in the neighborhood I walked down Patpong Street. As I found with Khao San Road, it was not what I expected. The area is not seedy. The road has three very long rows of stalls with standard tourist fare, and the accompanying tourists to go with it. You have to walk between the outermost stalls and the buildings to see the entrances to the shows. I was expecting it to be like what my impression of Amsterdam is, but it was not like that; there are no windows and no one in unseemly attire in the doorways, at least at seven o'clock at night.
