Spiti Valley is Ladakh without the tourists

Spiti Valley is in Himachal Pradesh along the southern border of Ladakh. Tibet is at its eastern border. Like Ladakh it is Tibetan Buddhist. There are a number of famous monasteries there. But the villages are small and far apart. It is not easy to get to; you cannot just fly in there as you can to Ladakh. Also, the roads are much rougher than those near Leh in Ladakh. If you are going to tour there you have some time and be willing to undergo some rough travel and visit some quiet places. I am reluctant to even publish mention of Spiti on the web, but I hope it will only attract people who are willing to travel simply.
